Archbishop Martin assigned Fr. Richard, from Nigeria, to assist the Parish Team on 1st November 2011.
He will serve as Assistant Priest in the Pastoral Area of Dundrum, Ballinteer and Meadowbrook, residing in Ballinteer.
He replaced Fr. Gerald who returned to Uganda.
We asked him for a piece about himself. This is what he wrote:
‘My name is Fr. Richard Olawale Fasuyi, known to my friends as Fr. Richie! I hail from Ondo town in south west Nigeria. I was born on the 14th of June, 1975.
I attended St. Mary’s primary school and received my secondary education at the Sacred Heart Minor Seminary in Akure. On completing secondary school,
I proceeded to discern my call to the priesthood for one year at St. John of the Cross Spiritual Year, Ekpoma.
From there, I graduated to the Major Seminary of All Saints in Uhiele, Ekpoma, Edo State where I obtained B.A.’s in Philosophy and
between 1996 and 2004. After the completion of my Seminary training in 2004,
I was ordained to the Priesthood on the 9th of April, 2005 for the Catholic Diocese of Ondo by Most Revd. Dr. Francis Alonge.
In 2006, I was seconded as Fidei Donum (on Mission) to the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos where I worked until August, 2011. I am currently studying for a Master of Theology degree, specialising in Pastoral Theology, in Pontifical University, St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth".
We in Ballinteer are delighted to welcome him and we look forward to getting to know him over the next few months.
