Fr Richard Behan, P.P., Moderator.
Fr Richard Behan was appointed to succeed Canon Paddy Battelle as Parish Priest of St. John the Evangelist, Ballinteer by Most Rev. Diarmuid Martin, Archbishop of Dublin and Primate of Ireland.
Fr Richard was appointed Parish Priest of Ballinteer Parish on 16 July 2006 & served for nine years on 16th July 2015.
Fr Richard took up his new appointment as Parish Priest of Blessington on 1st August 2015.
We thank Fr Richard for the wonderful caring years during his nine years as Parish Priest in Ballinteer parish.
We also thank him for the wonderful improvements he made in our church. We wish him happiness and joy in his new parish of Blessington.
Fr Behan, who was born in 1959, is a native of Knocklyon, Templeogue, Dublin and is serving as a curate in St. Peter's Church, Little Bray, Co. Wicklow.
He was ordained for Dublin Diocese in 1984. His first appointment was as Chaplin to Peamount Hospital and St. John of God Centre, Islandbridge, Dublin. From there he went as priest/teacher at the Vocational School and Curate at Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow. He spent another four years as Curate in Francis Street in the Coombe area of Dublin and, while there, also looked after St. Audeon's Church High Street. He came to St. Peter's from Springfield in Tallaght where he had responsibility for Fettercairn which had it's own Church and Schools. Fr Richard loves walking in the Dublin & Wicklow mountains.
We in the Parish of St. John the Evangelist, Ballinteer, warmly welcome Fr Richard. Canon Battelle has described him as a lovely, warm, friendly, effecient and approachable priest. We look forward to a long and enjoyable relationship with him. We wish him Gods Blessing in his new Parish and we would ask parishioners to remember him in their prayers.

Dublin on 8th June 1984. The ceremony was performed by The Most Rev. Dermot Ryan, Archbishop of
Dublin. On this day Richard Behan (from the parish of Knocklyon) and Aquinas Duffy (from the
parish of Sallynoggin, Co. Dublin) were ordained for the diocese of Dublin. It was the last
ordination by Archbishop Dermot Ryan before his departure to Rome where he died three
