Fr Richard Behan was appointed to succeed Canon Paddy Battelle as Parish Priest of St. John the Evangelist, Ballinteer by Most Rev. Diarmuid Martin, Archbishop of Dublin and Primate of Ireland.   Fr Richard took up his new position as Parish Priest on 16 July 2006 & he will have served for eight yeras on 16th July 2014.

Fr Behan, who was born in 1959, is a native of Knocklyon, Templeogue, Dublin and is serving as a curate in St. Peter's Church, Little Bray, Co. Wicklow.

He was ordained for Dublin Diocese in 1984. His first appointment was as Chaplin to Peamount Hospital and St. John of God Centre, Islandbridge, Dublin. From there he went as priest/teacher at the Vocational School and Curate at Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow. He spent another four years as Curate in Francis Street in the Coombe area of Dublin and, while there, also looked after St. Audeon's Church High Street. He came to St. Peter's from Springfield in Tallaght where he had responsibility for Fettercairn which had it's own Church and Schools. Fr Richard loves walking in the Dublin & Wicklow mountains.

We in the Parish of St. John the Evangelist, Ballinteer, warmly welcome Fr Richard.  Canon Battelle has described him as a lovely, warm, friendly, effecient and approachable priest.    We look forward to a long and enjoyable relationship with him.    We wish him God’s Blessing in his new Parish and we would ask parishioners to remember him in their prayers.

Cead Mile Failte and God Bless you Fr Richard, Ballinteer welcomes you.
